Scandia Riders Saddle Club maintains a riding ring located approximately 1 mile north of the intersection of Highway 97 and Olinda Trail (County Road 3) where our closed shows are hosted. Members are welcome to use the riding ring on non-show days. Arena amenities include excellent footing, sturdy rails and safe gates. Please note that there is no running water on the grounds- if needed, please bring water with you for you and your horses.
Club members and their guests must adhere to the following rules when using the club’s riding ring.

WSCA CHAMP SHOW
The annual Champ Show is hosted by WSCA. To qualify to participate, you must be a member of a club that belongs to WSCA, and you must place first or second at a WSCA-recognized show (open show) in the event in which you want to compete at Champ Show.
Being a member of the Scandia Riders Saddle Club gets you half way there because Scandia Riders Club is a member of WSCA! NOTE: you must have joined or renewed your membership with Scandia Riders Saddle Club by no later than May 15th of each year to be included in our membership list that is filed with WSCA.
CHAMP SHOW AND STATE FAIR HORSE SHOW SPONSORSHIP
Each year, the Scandia Riders Saddle Club provides sponsorship for 1 youth and 1 adult for each event. This sponsorship program is open to SRSC members to help meet some expenses that would result from competing at the State Fair Horse Show or WSCA Champ Show. AWARDS
The club awards high point and reserve high point awards to qualified closed show competitors. These honors are awarded at the annual banquet held each winter. To be qualified to receive year-end high point awards, you must be a member in good standing and have documented 5 hours of volunteer time with the club (children ages 13-17 must volunteer 3 hours).
Annual Awards Banquet: Our awards banquet includes year-end awards, and many other fun activities. It is an event that shouldnt be missed!

2013 Closed Show Chairperson: Mary Bradley
CLOSED SHOWS: Each year the club hosts shows for members only (i.e., “closed shows”). Points earned from these shows qualify members for year-end high point awards. There is also an “Over the Hill” Show put on by the Royalty each year for members that are 18 years of age and older and an occasional fun show. Points earned during the “Over the Hill” and Fun shows do NOT count toward Year End High Point awards.

2013 Open Show Chairperson: Gayle Bergstrom
OPEN SHOW (Open to the public) Occasionally the club hosts a WSCA-recognized Open Show where both members and non-members can qualify to ride in WSCA’s Champ Show. Location for the show varies, but it is always a fun time and a great way for our club to recruit new members!

FUN ACTIVITIES AT THE ARENA:
SOCCER AT THE SRSC ARENA – Have you ever played soccer while riding your horse? It’s a blast and is played with a giant ball. This summer (2013), we will be having informal soccer games at the SRSC arena on certain Thursday nights. Unless someone is up on the rules, we will have to wing it and make them up as we go. Please show up if you’re interested in playing. The fun starts at 6:00. Specific dates can be added if member interest supports it. Call Terry Caflisch at 612-710-8767 if you have questions.
